Fibre Labs is building an integrated natural fiber textile company with CanvaHemp, CanvaNettle, and CanvaBanana, which aims to reduce the carbon footprint of the world's second-largest polluting industry - textiles.
They have established first-of-its-kind fiber collection and processing units in India. Their proprietary technology converts agriculture waste into environmentally sustainable, functionally superior, and socially responsible textiles.
Fibre Labs had a vision of the product, how it functions, who it serves and how to get there. What they needed was a little bit of creativity that will help them mold the brand, visual identity, and UX design for the website, break through the noise of the startup world and start building a company around their idea. And for a quickly evolving and transformative company like Fibre Labs, it was very important to have its own brand identity and a robust online presence.
I designed Fibre Labs's brand with a new logo and full branding, supported by a flexible new website to market the product with an optimized user experience and an easy-to-use CMS platform. With Fibre Labs' precisely structured content and layout, we focused on bringing it all together and launching the product, thus helping them market and validate their idea.
After extensive competitor research, I defined color space and developed visual language specifically designed to help Fibre Labs stand out from the rest of the market, aid visual recall, and develop brand awareness. This bright green mark, environmentally friendly palette, and quirky patterns also evoke Fibre Lab's core culture and values; positivity, passion, and diversity.
The new visual identity is underpinned by a system of easy-to-use guidelines that we developed for Fibre Labs’s team, empowering them to confidentially use the brand in their communications to its full effect, without the daily support of an agency.
Website and UX Development
I decided to integrate a modern, flat and colorful design style that would allow me to elevate the brand, and deliver the messaging in a more user-friendly environment. The general idea was to find a visual representation that will stand out in their competitor's space.
The goal was to design a website that gives Fibre Labs an effective way to showcase their innovative products and potentially increase brand awareness. At the same time, delivering an excellent user experience across all devices and use cases.
Using Bootstrap as the core framework, I created a few pages of a static website with a custom build CMS panel to manage their blog.
I successfully managed to define a new brand, visual identity, illustration style, and fully responsive website for the launch of the product.
I challenged my initial ideas and design directions to come up with website design and visual brand identity that best reflects the business and adheres to the core “why” - to attract more customers to the Fibre Labs and encourage them to learn more about their innovation in textiles market. This was a very interesting project to undertake, but watching the project progress from the initial google doc to a functioning website with a defined brand, style, and message, was extremely fulfilling.
Even though I’ve never worked for a similar product within the textile innovation industry, I managed to infuse a bit of charm and uniqueness to the brand to offer it a recognizable visual identity that will help Fibre Labs stand out and break through the noise.
